Folklorico dancers at the Santa Clara Tamal y Mas Fiesta today. Watch for coverage in Monday’s Silver City Daily Press. Decided I needed some office time today. The Daily Press newsroom has such great character. I am honored and humbled to have won three awards tonight in the New Mexico Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest. And my thanks to my former employer, the Roswell Daily Record, for allowing me to accept my awards. Looking forward to a day of learning and networking at my first NMPA conference. About to cover my first assignment for the Silver City Daily Press, the newspaper’s public forum for Grant County Commission District 2. Watch for the story in tomorrow’s SC Daily Press and SCDailypress.com. It’s a beautiful day for a parade! People are already lining Main Street downtown for the start of the Eastern New Mexico State Fair parade, starting at 10 am. Alex Ross and I are taking photos, so watch for them at RDRNews.com! The carnival is open tonight at the Eastern New Mexico State Fair. What are you waiting for? Come on out and maybe I’ll take your photo for Sunday’s edition of the Roswell Daily Record. I went to one of Roswell’s elementary schools this morning to do a story on a fourth-grade class garden and several of the kids gave me handfuls of mint for coming by. Maybe we can have mint juleps in the office later. You know it could be a long meeting of the Roswell City Council when the convention center sets up the concession stand.
